The Carers Short Term break service can help you get a break from caring when you are experiencing exceptional difficulties and/or are waiting for your Carers assessment to be completed.
Or you may already be receiving a direct payment, but personal budget has run out and you need to attend an urgent, essential GP, hospital or similar appointment.
Trained Care Support Workers provide care to those with high needs and undertake specialist tasks including dementia care, giving prescribed medication, personal care requirements and tasks such as gastric feeding. This, in turn, gives you peace of mind knowing that the staff caring for your loved-one are highly skilled and competent to do so.
Carers identified to receive the service are those who cannot leave their loved ones unaided as they are deemed to be at risk if left on their own, and who are experiencing exceptional difficulty at the time of referral.
