Young Adult Carers are young people between the age of 16 and 24 whose life is in some way restricted because of the need to take responsibility for the care of a person on a regular basis. They may be the main Carer, or provide partial care for a brother, sister, mother, father, grandparent, husband, wife or partner. The person being cared for may have a long-term illness, a physical or sensory impairment, learning difficulties, mental illness or be affected by alcohol or substance misuse.
Our Young Adult Carer Transition service can provide;
Talk & Support
A support worker can meet with you in your home or in a mutually convenient place such as a coffee shop. The aim is to provide you with information, support and the chance to talk to somebody. We can meet with you and your family together or just you if you would prefer.
Support & Signposting
Where appropriate for us to do so, we can accompany Young Adult Carers to meetings and support them to get their views, needs and wishes across to other professionals. We can support Yong Adult Carers in completing paperwork and forms when applying for a place in further or higher education, job application forms, and benefit applications.
